genuinely the best calm podcasts for kids

my kids are finally at an age where they are starting to like (aka have the attention span for) podcasts! I love it because we have something to keep them engaged during long car rides- or let’s be honest, short ones, too. I love the storytelling of a good podcast that introduces them to great vocabulary and also to truths that I know will stay with them as they grow older.

here are four podcasts we are enjoying right now! #4 is our current fav!!

Gardenkeeper Gus

Gardenkeeper Gus is about a young boy named Gus who takes wholesome little adventures in his family’s garden. He often spends his time “dilly-dallying”, listening to the calming sounds of nature, and talking with the animals in his yard. I like that Gardenkeeper Gus encourages unstructured time outside in nature, which is a huge component of our family’s homeschool “philosophy”. I also really enjoy that this show affirms the role of a homemaker, as Gus’ mother often works in her garden or cooks in her kitchen.

Tiny Theologians

My kids love this show, and I am so glad because Tiny Theologians impresses biblical truths in my children’s minds as they follow the adventures of TJ and Tory. Each episode is based on a different letter of the alphabet that correlates with an attribute of God with real-life, practical explanations. The show features great vocabulary words and even silly songs to drive home the lessons about God’s love and character.

Lamplighter Kids Stories

The focus of Lamplighter Kids Stories is to bring traditional values such as courage, grace, and beauty to modern-day kiddos. They also explore introductions to different cultures which is fun and exciting. Have you ever noticed how curious kids are about other places in the world? I love hearing my children’s questions about different countries and cultures. I also love the peace of mind I have when I play a podcast, knowing the writers value similar morals and topics that I would feel safe for my kids to listen to while I am not around.

Good Way Podcast

The Good Way Podcast is just as enriching for me as it is for my kids. Each episode contains a poem, a hymn or song, a chapter reading, and always ends with the Doxology. I’ve been known to tear up listening to this podcast, being reminded of the beauty and wonder of a life lived for the King.

This podcast is so thoughtful and well-made and I know my children’s minds are being filled with the richness of good literature, thoughts about moral character, and what it looks like to be a Child of God. This podcast invites us into worship on a Thursday driving to co-op, on a restful weekend afternoon, or on a day when things are hard and we need a break.

pin for later.
